Staxel’s voxel-based sandbox world lets you alter your surroundings however you like, and with a rich selection of in-game materials and an intuitive approach to modding, you can truly create your own unique world within the game. Will you grow the village while keeping its rustic charm, or take it in an entirely new direction? Perhaps you’d rather leave the village and focus on your own projects? It’s all up to you, and your creativity is exactly the tool for the job! Staxel is a building/farming simulation set on a cute, colourful island. You start out on a small farm with a rundown house, but before long you’ll be able to turn it into a fully-fledged home with your own array of crops and cattle to tend to. Visually, it’s obviously inspired by Minecraft. With the same basic blocky aesthetic we’ve all grown used to seeing over the years. ![]() The gameplay feels like a blend of that game, Harvest Moon, and Stardew Valley, with a dash of Animal Crossing sprinkled in too. In fact, Staxel takes ideas from these titles like they’re an all-you-can-eat buffet, resulting in a game which tries to do a lot but doesn’t quite manage to perfect any of its features. The farming is the most enjoyable component of the game. Planting crops, watering them, and expanding your farm creates a nice gameplay loop, albeit one many players will have experienced before. Animals like cows and cats are a cute addition, and it’s fun to see them mooching about your farm throughout the day. You can sell your crops or produce for currency or use them to bake certain dishes. The singleplayer mode allows the player to access all of the same content as is available during multiplayer mode, and vice versa. While creating a new world, the player is able to choose the number of starting farms on the island: anywhere from one to four farms. These farms can be used in both singleplayer and multiplayer mode. Main articles: Multiplayer – Starting a Server and Multiplayer – Joining a Game Up to four people can play on the same world, hosted by one of the four. Use this mode by selecting a server from the Main Menu. This option will allow players to obtain items without previously gathering resources and using the crafting system. This is good for players who are primarily interested in building in a sandbox mode. Shotgun FarmersĬhoose this option before entering the game, or type /creative while in-game to toggle the option on and off. Single-player is a local mode that does not require a server or internet to use. Players starting a new game in this mode will be presented with a tutorial that includes tasks to complete. Staxel can be played as either a singleplayer or multiplayer game. Multiplayer worlds can be played solo, if other players are offline. In a multiplayer world, all players are able to have their own farm, house, pets, and more. Every player has their own questlines to complete. Regardless of how many players are playing, any pets, farm animals, and crops will need the usual food and watering, respectively. in the kitchen, though you’ll need various cooking stations to chop, boil, or bake your items. ![]() Unlike other similar titles, Staxel allows complete customization of the world thanks to a fully destructible environment, in a style similar to Minecraft.
